So. Turns out I lied.
Not two hours after I posted my previous blog post, this arrived on my doorstep:
Yes, I opened the box upside down.
This may be the single most beautiful book I’ve ever held. I thought the cover image was pretty on-screen, but in person, it’s stunning. I can’t wait to see this one on the shelf! (Officially, Dec 1, in the US, but you’ll probably be able to find it mid-November.) Here it is up close:
And from the side:
Now, Rachel, you might be thinking. I can’t help noticing that this is a very thick book. Why is this book so thick?
I’m so glad you asked, Bob! (You’re all Bob, now. That’s a new thing I just decided. You good with that, Bob?) This book is so thick because it’s an omnibus edition! What does that mean? Again, Bob, I’m so glad you asked! What that means is that when you buy this…
…what you’re really getting is this…
That’s right! Two full-length novels, plus the novella “Reaper,” which has never before been in print.
Three books for the price of one.
As you probably know, No. 1 is getting us all packed to move to Oklahoma, and since we’ve now added 48 books to the pile of things that must be moved, I thought I should help the poor packing guru out. I know I said I wouldn’t do a giveaway this week, but in the interest in getting stuff out of my house, rather than adding to what must be moved…I’ve changed my mind.
Up for grabs: TWO copies of the Soul Screamers Volume Two omnibus (one to each winner).
The details:
- Two winner will be chosen at random and announced here on Saturday, October 27, 2012.
- One entry per person.

Okay, start commenting!

Beautiful cover

My mom used to make my costumes when I was a kids, soooo in light of the fact that she passed away several years ago, I’d say all of them were my favorite. But she did make me a very nice witch costume when I was about 12:) the book looks great btw
Jessica S.
Oooh pretty pretty!! I have the original books, but I loove these omnibus covers!
I won’t be dressing up for Halloween this year. Haven’t done so in awhile. My fave costume from years past? I can’t remember really! I would generally buy my costume–or my mommy did–;)–so they were just store brandness.
I guess being Kimberly the Pink Power Ranger from the first Power Rangers movie was pretty cool!
And although not a Halloween costume, I did dress up on Spirit Day my senior year in high school. Our senior theme was Peter Pan, so I wore Tinkerbell pajama bottoms–being pajamas and that’s what the Darling children wore when flying to Neverland and they had Tink on them! My top was the themed shirt and then I had fairy wings on. So it was a nice mishmash of Peter Pan-ness!
Another costume I wore was at RT 2010, it was a lime green sundress and I wore the same fairy wings. It was simple yet kind of cute!
Rachel
I don’t know if I’m dressing up this year, but my favourite costume is definitely a zombie. I’ve participated in quite a few “zombie walks” over the years on Halloween – and I’ve gotten pretty good at doing the make-up. I actually met my other half of three years at one of these zombie walks! So it’s now forever my favourite Halloween costume.
Amy
AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SO EXCITING.
I’m going as tigger because honestly, you can never get to old for disney, and trying to sit down with a tail seems like my kind of challenge.
Rachel C
I will be a fairy as usual but my favorite costume is not mine but my daughter’s who created a costume based on the Hunger Games. She made the wedding dress from Catching Fire. It is so cool!
kelly
unfortunately i will be skipping halloween this year due to upcoming surgery but i was planning on being a victorian vampire . Halloween is my favourite time of year!!! Time to roll out the scary movies =)
Tina
My favorite costume is when I dressed as a pirate as a little girl. And this year I am taking my children out for Halloween
Bailey
I don’t dress up anymore but I remember going as one of the pink ladies from Grease when I was younger. I was obsessed with that movie when I was a kid. XD
Jean Black
The book looks absolutely stunning
Unfortunetaly I have to work this Halloween *sniff* so I’ll be a waitress and can’t dress up (unless you count my working uniform as dressing up
) my fav costume was my witch costume from 2008
Shannon R
I’ve never really done trick or treating, but one year I really wanted to go so my Mum fetched a sheet, cut a hole in it, painted my face white and called me a ghost. It was hilariously awful,
samantha atkin
My kids are dressing up and i will be up and down answering the door with the candy, but
I’m not dressing up this year but last year we went to a party and i dressed up as Michael Jackson
from thriller.I can’t wait for this book to come out the cover is beautiful x
Cordelia Fitzgerald
My fav costume ever is a pixie costume from childhood. It had the loveliest wings and slippers and tutu. Tumblelina would have been soooo jealous.
Jolene A
Ooooh, pretty!!! Would so love to get my hands on it
I usually don’t dress up for Halloween
My husband usually works till late and I am left to get all three kids and my two dogs dressed and ready. It tends to be exhausting lol The last time my husband and I dressed up was quite some time ago, but it was a lot of fun and I went as the devil and he was dressed as a priest. We had a lot of fun with it
Teri Herbert
I’m not dressing up but as a kid my favourite was always the black cat. Simple but easy to do.
heather self
I will probably not dress up for Halloween this year–I can’t remember the last time I did. Though i did have a Renaissance wedding almost 15 yrs ago. Does that count?
Kendall McCubbin
Halloween has never been really been a big thing in Scotland, well in my area it never has. I remember going as a pumpkin a few years ago and I loved my costume! It was round and just looked like a pumpkin! I had a little hat as well lol. Looking back I now realise how silly I must have looked! I remember when my brother went as Scream one year and I am so scared of the Scream costume so I refused to go near him lol. Halloween has basically disappeared in my area now! My mum still buys sweets but no-one goes out anymore! I wish I could spend Halloween in America one year as it is such a big thing over there!
Thank you for the giveaway!
Kathy F
My best costume was a clown costume with full face makeup – mom made my costume (yes I was in my 20′s) and i used clown makeup myself so i ended up looking quite clown creepy but had to wait on tables all night in my costume. good time fun!
Heather @ Red Headed Bookworm
I’m not dressing up this year. Just don’t have the time or energy needed to put into it. I grew up in the 80′s/90′s so I always loved to go as a punk rocker. You know, like Madonna/Cindy Lauper. My hair would be teased and sprayed different colors. Short skirt with tights, and high heeled ankle boots and socks folded down with the big ruffles. A ripped shirt with another underneath. Lots of bangle bracelets and blue eye shadow! I miss that, lol. Thanks so much!
miriam
I still don’t know if I am going to dress up or not, but if I do it, I’ll go of Weird Girl from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie.
Tobi Summers
Pretty!
Hm, one year I was a girl in a shower for Halloween. And one year I was a Hershey Kiss. Those were my two favorites, I think (though the silver paint on the Hershey Kiss came off on EVERYTHING). In recent years, I’ve mostly just stuck with simple costumes (cowboy, skater, marching band member (when I conveniently had the costume in high school)).
Thanks for the giveaway and good luck with the packing!
Lisa Worthen
I love this series and can’t wait to have Reaper in print! Im not dressing up this Halloween but my favorite costume from the past was when a group of us dressed all in white with the tagline “Fallopian Swim Team”.
JodieC
Been told I’ve got to wear only black this year when I was going to go as a glow in the dark skeleton! I might just vamp up my make up all dark and dramatic to compensate for the boring idea of just wearing black to a friends House warming party :/
I want to dress up to be honest
Kelsey D.
I’m not dressing up this year but I knew a few years ago, my friends and I got together to do what we deemed hilarious. I dressed up as an ‘angel’ or rather, a person’s good conscience. You know, the thing standing on your shoulders telling you the right thing to do? My other friend was the devil or bad conscience. We then tied our wrists to a friend that stood in the middle and proceeded to walk around, giving her advice. Some good and some.. not so good! It was pretty fun.
Tyler-Rose
I’ve never been allowed to dress up for halloween… My parents never liked the idea of me and my brother wandering the streets dressed up at night before… So instead they’d just give us a pumpkin/devil/vampire facial thing. So one year I had red facepaint and horns… I was the devil…. But my favourite was zombie. My parents drew some fake cuts on me then sent me on my merry way to my friends house. It was here that my friend glued fake cuts on me that her mum had brought, gave me some ripped clothes to put on top of mine and covered me in beetroot juice. It was great!
Beautiful cover!
Michelle Oliver
My favorite costume from the past i would have to say was the one my mom made. I was a package of Recees Peanut Butter Cups. it was an amazing costume. i had to go sideways in doorways though. i think i was in the 4th grade that year. i have to say that was by far my favorite costume and the fact that my mom handmade it made it even better.
Angie
Husband and I are going as zombie prom king and queen!
déborah
Hi, i love your books so much! i’m french and here halloween isn’t really celebrate, but one time we made a haloween party (because i looooveee halloween ), and my favorite costume was a cupcake! yeah i was a giant cupcake who drunk in a measuring glass, it was pretty fun!!
sydney
My favorite costume was my own creation of a gypsy.
jayne
Not sure i know what i’m going to be this year. I normally dress as a vampire, but i’ve also been a witch, a zombie, a ghost. My Favourite has got to be when i was a zombie, i used old clothes, sprayed my hair, painted my face all white. I freaking love Halloween,
Michelle McMichael
Lovely cover!
I’m not dressing up this year. I have 3 kids, my younger two are dressing up as Iron Man & Sleeping Beauty, my eldest has autism and is petrified of halloween. He’s making progress though. He dresses up as a school boy (in his normal school uniform) and wears spooky socks. This year he has asked to carve a pumpkin. Baby steps and I couldn’t be prouder!!
My favourite costume as a kid was my Batgirl costume, at least I know where my 4yr old gets his superhero obsession from
Good luck with the move!!
Koll
Well.. Where I live we’re not really celebrating halloween.. So I don’t have any costume’s to share from previous or forthcoming halloweens.. :I
Melissa Robles
That cover is so freaking gorgeous! Really, people are so creative with your covers Rachel! I LOVE THEM.
Anyway, I won’t dress up this year BUT one of my favorite costume’s was last year’s Court Jester costume. My mom made it and it came out fabulous
Tonya
I’m not dressing up this year..I have more fun with my 7 year old dressing up.
But my favorite costume that I wore was my martial arts gi…yes not very orignial but very me. Especialy when I wore it with my black bet at school..for me as a child, I wanted to be a ninja (dorky to others). I thought then I wasn’t showing people that I was scaring but I was tough. I wanted to protect people, like a super hero. If I dressed up now, it would be Wonder Woman! (The actress who played her was named Linda Carter and that’s my mom’ name).
Cindy Barton
Mine was a very simple Hobo. I remember my dad burning a cork to use for soot for my face. Love Halloween and the simple costume.
Lori Parker
I’m not dressing up this year. But my mini is. This year she is going as a bumble bee, last year she was chewbacca from Star Wars. Everyone thought she was a bear. :/ I was witch every year for halloween but one. Same costume and everything. My mom made them so when I outgrew mine I started wearing my older sisters.
Laura R
My favorite costume was the Mad Hatter. I made my own 2.5 foot tall hat and everything. The make-up was hard to do & tolerate, but was well worth it for all the compliments.
Caitlin
I just found out I am allowed to dress up for Halloween at work on Saturday, and I’m still in the process of deciding what to be. I will probably just end up putting cat ears on and drawing on whiskers
Brookea_2006
I’m going as Flo from the progressive commercials. Beautiful cover!!!
Rebecca F.
I’m not dressing up this year, but if i was, I would be Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series. She’s one of my fav female characters (along with Kaylee), and her outfit is easily recognizable and easy to make yourself. But, since i’m not dressing up, my fav outfit from the past was when i went as a M&M
Kristalynn
I’m not dressing up this year. My favorite costume from the past was Little Mermaid. I was OBSESSED with Little Mermaid as a child. Like memorized the entire movie word for word. My mom made me a mermaid costume and sprayed my hair red for the night. It was the best costume cuz it was made with love.
Jessy W
That is beautiful cover! I am happy for you Rachel! I won’t be dressin up as anything this year because well i’m old, But my favorite costume would have to be when I was 5, I was the Ciquita Banana Lady yes fruit hat and all
fallon traversari
First I would like to say, what a fantastic looking book! This year I am planning to take my little monsters out trick or treating, my lad dressed as a skeleton and my daughter as a witch and I am going as a zombie….. it’s going to be a cool Halloween
Kelly Taylor
I won’t be dressing up this year, I will be knee deep in lesson plans! But my favorite costume from the past was a one me and my mam made for my brother. It was a cousin it outfit from the Adams Family. It was full length and made of wool and took ages to make but it looked really good and it won the prize for best costume at his cub scouts party.
Kim
I am not dressing up this year . My favorite Halloween costume was not actually mine but my daughters. She dressed up as Lara Croft – tombraider.
Melinda
I will be dressing up with a group of friends you are never to old to dress up , we will be doing the wizard of oz this year and I am dressing as the lion just to hand candy out to kids makes me very sad when people come to your house not dressed up just in their coats I love Halloween and all the costumes ,
As for your new book cover it is stunning it seems everytime there is a new one it is more pleasing then the next very good taste to match the style of writing
Veronika
We don’t celebrate Halloween here I live.. it’s sad, because I really like it. So no dressing up for me. If I would live in US, I’d probably wanna be a zombie though
Andrea
I’ve decided on Pocahontas, in the past I was the Little mermaids in human form and that was by far my favorite costume!
Myranda
I love it. Can’t wait to have my own copy.
Adriana C
I don´t dress up for Halloween any more, now my kids do the dress up. My favorite costume was when I dress up as a crying harlequin.
I love the cover!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Kami
I am going to a Halloween party with a “Stereotype” theme so I am dressing like a naughty schoolgirl.
Calliope
I almost always used to dress up as a vampire or witch (or vampiric witch) for Halloween – since I was twelve I’ve been tweaking and remaking the same costume over and over again trying to find new ways to keep to the original while making it something new and different at the same time – no easy task, let me tell you!
Amanda
I am going to be a dark fairy this year. I love the cover!!
Cally
Last year I dressed up as a Jack the Ripper victim and my boyfriend was Jack the Ripper! Wont be dressing up this year, though! x
Thamy Duffield
I’m not dressing up this year but my daughter, she is 3 years old is going as a witch. My mom is Brazilian so she never understood the concept of being scary on Halloween so every year she dressed me as a fairy, people would laugh but then she would say “Even zombies need saving and glitter sometimes” so yeah, I was the Brazilian kid wearing colourful clothes on Halloween. Do I like glitter and a wand? Hell yeah, I grew up covered in glitter and saving little vampires from a day of darkness.
Larry
A Banshee
Jen Delaney
The cover is so beautiful
One of the earliest memories I have is of dressing up as a devil when I was 3… so now that I’m 19 I figured its time i did it again. Although I’m going as the modern/ business woman type devil.
Brandy
I’m not dressing up this year but my favorite costume of the past was the bearded lady. I got an old mu mu (is that one word or 2?) dark blue eyeshadow, red lips and nails, and I used skin glue to glue curly doll hair to my face and lip. I kinda looked like mama from Mama’s Family.
May
NOT this year but I was a cat once.
Emmalee Giantomasso
I was a gypsy one year, but seeing as I have a year and a half old son who is going to be a monkey, I haven’t had a chance to plan a costume.
jodie betts
This year I’m going on halloween hen night so ill be going as a devil. Xx
Jamie
This year my hubby talked me into being a pirate… don’t ask! But, my favorite costume was the one I put together last year! I was Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter! I even talked the hubby into letting me draw a lightening bolt on his forehead since everyone already says he looks like Harry Potter anyway. It was a lot of fun trick-or-treating with the kids that way! Luckily, they’re all young enough not to be embarrassed by us yet LOL
Lisa Elrod-Jones
I am the single biggest Colt’s fan in history so every year at Halloween, because Halloween falls during football season, I dress up in all my Colt’s gear. Down to my Colt’s socks even! Absolutely LOVE Halloween and all the little ones that come by!
Happy Halloween!!!!!
Sophie Y
I won’t be dressing up this year, but my favourite costume from the past is Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd, complete with crazy Helena Bonham Carter hair and fake plastic pie made from ‘people’!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Andie Wardlow
I’m dressing up as a devil fairy…
Lolita
Here in the netherlands halloween isn’t as popular as in the US. So usually we’re not dressing up for halloween. Since a few years ago halloween is getting more popular and kids dress up and go out to get candy. It’s fun to see them all dressed up in strange customs, some even come up with a song. I actually have never dressed up for hallowen.
Chris Miller
An aging hipster–wait, I already am (see photo)

Danielle Faber
I’m going as a medieval witch. Not a pointy hat, wart, but a beautiful long green dress with sweeping sleeves and a silver chain belt. The classic witch, not the Christian hatched one
Tanisha
I will do Samhain (pronounced So-Wen) Ritual using the Cake and Ale Ceremony. My favorite costume from when I was little was I dressed up as a centaur. You know half-horse, half-man or woman rather?
Kristen
Won’t be wearing one this year but my favourite costume was one my mum (kind of) made me when I was about 11. I was a princess bride -she found me a beautiful white dress from a cute little vintage shop and them adjusted it to my size and made the skirt all poofy for me. I definitely felt like the bees knees in my get up. Absolutely love the cover by the way, its soo pretty.
Stephanie Ehmann
My Friends/Sisters and I are planning to be a whole bunch of Men in Black Characters! My White fluff and their Pug included!
Ana Lucía
I don’t dress up for halloween, we don’t celebrate that here in my country. Just a few random things at malls and parties maybe. So I don’t have a favorite costume.
Vivien
I really want to be Marie Antoinette!
Michelle Harlan
That is a stunning cover! Wow!
I’m not dressing up for Halloween this year…my kids decided a few years ago that they were “over” Halloween. My favorite costume of the past…80s popstar…big hair, neon clothes, jelly bracelets….it was like being a kid again!
Nancy L.R
Although Halloween is my favorite holiday, I haven’t dressed up since I was 18 and that was the first time since I was like, 10. Though I will dress up this year, since I’ll be taking my brother out trick-or-treating and he refuses to be seen with me sans costume. He’s 6.
So I’ll be dressing up as the girl version of Eric Draven played by Brandon Lee in the film, “The Crow” since it is one of my favorite movies. Should be interesting.
Darci
I have had many great costumes in the past, but I would have to say my fairy-tale mermaid costume was the best! I even had my hair colored with purple and blue to match! I liked the purple so much I kept it, adding blonde, brown and red too:-)
Valerie Long
Awesome cover!!!!
As for the question…I quit dressing up anymore, I never go out so I gave up on it. As for favorite costume from the past, I guess it would be a tie between a hooker and a vampiress (2 different costumes and 2 different years).
Savannah W.
I’m not dressing up for Halloween itself but, we had spirit week at school last week and we had to dress up like a charater from the The Hunger Games. I dressed up as Prim and to be honest… I looked AWESOME!
Nicole M
I think that I am going to be the Queen of Hearts and my husband will be the Mad Hatter!
We have a party Saturday and can’t wait!
Awesome cover, by the way!!
Denise Roberts
I probably won’t dress up this year. Will be taking my 5 month old Grandson Emrys trick or treating. My favorite Halloween costume was my sister’s and my “little old lady” costumes. My grandma made us up really good every year,no store bought costumes ever. This was the first one I really remember. She knew how much we loved Halloween and made sure we had a great time each year.
sherry wang
What will you be for Halloween this year, or, if you’re not dressing up, what’s your favorite costume from the past?
I will be a pirate this year… first time ever. I know it’s been over-done and some are very showy. But I wanted to find one that is not too sexy and show skin much. I wanted one that can suit my body type, a big chinese girl that have some fat. So I found one that cover my problem areas. Yay!
Maria Vasquez
I havent wore a halloween costume in over six years… My family doesnt really celebrate halloween anymore but we love to celebrate the day of the dead.. when i was little i love dressing up as the old men from the traditional dance “Dance of the old men”… The first time i did it was such an honored and had the best memory…
Taylor @ Marked By Books
My favorite was definitely being the Greek goddess Athena last year. We trailed the dress that we made through red dye for the “blood of my enemies,” so it ended up looking really cool.
Allison
GORGEOUS cover!
Since I will be in the office on Halloween, I’ll probably just be something work appropriate like a witch or princess – BUT my favorite Halloween costume was probably a roller skating waitress when I was like 9 or my super cool homemade Princess Jasmine costume when I was about 7 or 8. I have always loved the more creative made from home costumes the best!
Keri
I’m going as a camp counselor from Crystal Lake! Have an official Crystal Lake Camp Counselor shirt and everything! =)
Ana Candida

Jen K
Princess Peach from Super Mario and my boyfriend has been working on his Mario moustache all month!
Emily Chate
I live in Australia so halloween isn’t as big here as it is in the US so I probably won’t be dressing up but if I were going to dress up I would go as vampire of some description (there are so many versions these days). Cliche I know but I am not very creative today.
Lisa R
I don’t think I’ll be dressing up this year, but my favourite form the past when I was 5! I was dressed as a princess but due to some freak playground accident I ended up getting a black eye right before Halloween so I guess I was a zombie-ish princess? Its pretty funny NOW -_____- That cover is gorgeous by the way! Thanks for the giveaway!!
Jo
It is a beautiful book! I won’t be dressing up this year. My favourite costume from the past was when I dressed up for a Halloween school disco when I was a primary school, where my mask was made from a cut up egg box, where (please excuse me, I’m not sure what the different parts of an egg box are called) two of the cups were for eyes and one of the spokes for the nose, all painted green. I thought it was pretty cool and crafty
I suppose the move means you won’t be baking Haunted House this year?
Elaine G
Beautiful cover.
I’m not dressing up. I have never been a fan of Halloween. But as a kid I guess my favorite was when I dressed up as a fairy.
Kai Charles
Im not dressing up this year but my favorite outfit was a dragon priestess costume I made up a few years ago, great year! Especially since I got a pic with an awesome Jack Skellington while wearing it
Tammy
I love this cover. It is beautiful.
I am going to br Harley Quinn for Halloween. Yes, I love super heroes and some villians
AND by the way I am ok with being Bob. I May just May have been called worse once or twice in my life.
I also would like to help the Number 1 out and take some of your other books you have off of his hands. Just send me the address and I will send a few fed ex boxes your way.
Rachel Verna Shep
I have yet to decide what I’m dressing up as this year, but will have a costume by the end of this week. Probably end up as a ghost.
I think my favourite costume would probably been the year I was Dracula’s bride. I had this lovely red puff dress, which I believed came from a charity shop. I won a prize that year and I ended up using that dress a few times in school productions.
Kristina
I will be going this year as Parent and my youngest daughter will be going as a box full of Cuties (clementines) and my middle daughter will be going as Captain America. As for my favorite costume in the past would be my put together cat costume. My mom made me cat paws and ears to go with it. I wore it for many Halloweens!
Susan
Awesome cover! I have read all your books (e-books that is) would love to get a physical copy for by bookshelf so i can enjoy them over and over again.
Breana M.
I don’t know what I want to be yet, but I do know that my favorite costume would have to be the butterfly one my mom made me years ago. Thanks for the giveaway!
Tara
This year i am not going out for halloween but i am volenteering at a haunted house…. i am supposed to be some kind of undead scary lumberjack. By the way the cover for the omnibus volume two is very pretty.
Holly W
My favourite was dressing up as a hobo because we got to wear layers and it gets cold up here (Canada) at the end of Oct lol!
SJ
I`m not dressing up but my favourite costume has to be when my niece dressed up as a pink and purple butterfly. She was so cute in it.
Tricia P
Love the cover! I probably won’t be dressing up this year, we just moved & I don’t even have my kids’ costumes yet! My favorite costume was when I was in high school, I threw together a Joker (from Batman) costume with dyed green hair & all!
Maggie
Peach! (from Mario Bros.) and my boyfriend Mario will go as Mario x) We were also considering the idea of going as Candace and Jeremy (from Disney’s Phineas and Ferb). Last year I dressed up with my friends as the Powerpuff Girls, I was Bubbles and one friend was even dressed as the professor Utonium (:
Jennifer @ Some Like It Paranormal
Love the cover! Not sure if I am dressing up but if I do I will wear my vampire costume from last year because costumes are extremely expensive! I was also a gladiator in the past which I loved. I’ve always wanted to be a voodoo priestesses. Thanks for the giveaway!
Trista R
Agree! Beautiful cover!!!
I am definitely dressing up but I’m still torn between two costumes. I’m either going as Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks since Once Upon A Time has renewed my obsession with fairy tales.
Haley Miller
While I will not be particpating in Halloween this year, my favorite costume from the past was my princess Jasmine one. As Aladdin is one of my eternally favorite movies, that costume will always hold the spot of favorite.
Carrie
You always get the prettiest covers!
This year I am planning on simply dressing up in my ren faire costume. But my all time favorite costume memory has to be the year when my friends all dressed up as pirates and sand karaoke to ‘Cell Block Tango.’
Samantha S
Female version of Chris Angle last year for a Halloween party, so much fun!
Vivian N
I’ll probably be staying at home watching movies and passing out candy this year. My favorite costume I’ve gone in is Red Riding Hood, because I had made the outfit from a old laundry bag.
Serena
Since I’m not going out for Halloween this year my costume is pretty low effort. I’m thinking; pirate. Bandana, eye patch, possibly a parrot, there all done.
Alexis J.
I probably won’t be going out since it’s on a Wednesday…stupid…ANYWAY my favorite costume I’ve worn was a German Octoberfest girl because the dress was made in Germany!
Tanya Prophet
So even though I’m 23 now and haven’t dressed up.in forever. This year I will be dressing up as a fallen angelwith a twist….. I’ll be in disguise. I know weird right. But I thought of this because 1 I get to wear ALL black and 2 I wanted to wear a mask and gloves, which is were the “disguise” comes in. I sure hope it works out the way I plan.
Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your books!
Kimberley@sunnykimmylovinglife
LOL! Can I be Bobette?
You sound like someone from a commercial. I love it. We don’t really celebrate halloween in my country. But if we did I’d probably be a bloody vampire bride or corpse bride or something equally creepy. *sigh Halloween sounds really awesome right now.
Sarah
I’m not dressing up this year, but my sister is making a Weeping Angel costume (from Doctor Who), and I just might have to steal it from her next year because it’s going to be awesome!
Danielle
I’ve just recently found Dr Who and I didn’t even think of that. Might steal that for next year
MelissaW
Ive never been trick a treating ever

Anna Wood-Gaines
I’m not sure what I will be this year (I know PROCRASTINATOR!) But I think my most interesting costume was when I went as ‘Wacky Girl’ a.k.a. put as many different colors (and sparkles, NEVER forget the sparkles) on my body as possible. It was quite the look
SweetMarie83
I’m not going out this Halloween (I wish!) but my favourite costume was a pirate…I had mid-calf floaty pants (I always called them pirate pants, so I figured I might as well BE a pirate in them), striped knee-high socks, a pirate hat, hook, sword, and I made my hair all crazy and big, did my makeup really heavy on the eyeliner and shadow, and smudged some brown eyeshadow on my face so it looked dirty.
Thanks for sharing some of your pretties with us! Love, Bob.
shaina katz
last year for different things i dressed up as tinker bell and a 50s girl
Erica
I think the best costume for Halloween this year would be dressing up as Walter White/Heisenberg, or as Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad.
Rachel Vincent
I’ve never seen it!
Amy H
Halloween is, hands down, my favorite holiday and I always dress up. My favorite costume ever was what I wore last year. I was Alice from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (BUT, I wasn’t the blue dress wearing Alice, I was the “Um from Umbridge” red-dress-made-from-curtains Alice. It was awesome and I’m toying around with being the same thing this year as it was such a great dress.
Crystal
I haven’t dressed up in years but my favorite from the past was my Harry Potter costume, not Harry Potter but witch/wizard costume with the robes and wand.
JennH
The cover is beautiful!
My fav old costume is a pirate one from a few years ago
jade
amazing cover!!! um.. the answer to your question would be Evil Alice meaning dress up as Alice from wonderland but my dress is black with white hearts down the bottom along with black bow headband , i have a bloody knife , black and white stripy knee socks, this little ‘ drink me ‘ potion necklace and lace gloves. my makeup is going to be dark red lips with pale face and grey smoky eyes. I love halloween so i kind of go over board, even though here in australia it’s not as big but my english friend throws a halloween costume party for it every year.
Stephanie P.
I’ve never actually had much to do with Halloween before so I’ve never dressed up for it but I think witch costumes are cool.
Jeniffer
Oh wow, pretty! I think my favorite was when I dressed up as a fairy a few years back.
Brianna
An Angel! Halloween is all about being someone you’re not, right?
laura carter
Im not sure what i will be dressing up as this year. I will probably just do what i do every year and dress normaly but cover myself in several gallons of fake blood, it is the most effortless costume ever but every one always says it looks amazing. The only downside is sometimes the fake blood stains stuff, last year my skin was red for a few days and i think there is still a red stain in the shape of a handprint in the house i lived in last year.
Kate
Gorgeous!!! I am going to be a greek goddess for Halloween and I finally managed to get my hubs to participate by buying him a toga!
Kaila D
I’m not dressing up this year (if I was I think I’d go as Shadowhunter from Cassie Clare’s books), but in the past my staple costume was vampire. I’ve lost track of how many times I dressed as one
Jemzz
im going to be a dark fary, sexy, gothic and rock all rolled into one
Carina Olsen
Thank you so so much for this perfect giveaway
The book looks so so so so pretty. <3 *Wants it*
You see.. we don't really celebrate Halloween here in Norway. Not like you do in the US. But I do remember dressing up as a devil as a child
Love, Carina
JenMH
Beautiful book!! I don’t think I am dressing up this year, but my personal favorite costume from past years was probably when I went to a party as a witch. It just … suited me somehow.
My all-time favorite costume, however, has to be my nephew at age 2. He was a bear, with the head and four paws, and he had to be about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. And he had no idea what the party was actually about, but he looked cool and there was chocolate, so hey dudes, life was good for him. LOL
Pamela
The book looks so awesome! *u* I don’t really remember dressing up for Halloween (okay, that’s a bit of a lie) but my favorite costume was probably my brother’s when he was still a kid. He dressed up as a vampire and oh man, my mom put lipstick on him! Hahaha
erinf1
oooohhhh pretty
I’m being lazy this year and not dressing up. Work has been hellacious and I haven’t had a breather to do anything let alone shop for costumes. So I’m gonna stay home, and help contribute to the decline of my neighborhood kid’s teeth
starryeyedjen
I’m making it easy on myself this year and going as a cowgirl. I live in Texas, so I’ve already got the hat and boots, plus a really cute red bandana dress. =) My favorite costume ever, though, was probably when I dressed up as Audrey Hepburn.
Stella (Ex Libris)
It does look beautiful!
I won’t be dressing up since sadly we don’t celebrate Halloween around here, but I enjoyed dressing up as a black mouse with painted whiskers and a nose and meowling when I was a teenager
Thank you for the giveaway Rachel,
Stella-Bob here
Sabrena
It looks lovely! Thank you so much for this. My favorite costume from the past is when I went as a vampire one year. And while technically not a halloween costume, I also loved dressing up for pirate day!
Catherine H
I normally go as a cat…because my name is cat. This year though i’m going for a zombie hunting bride look
Jess (The Cozy Reader)
Looks great!
I was supposed to be a Victorian Steampunk lady this year but decided to back out of our party. However, my 8 yo daughter is being Snow White and my 18 month old is being a fish! Both look incredible. The hubby was going to be a UPS delivery man.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Carmen B.
Halloween isn’t really a thing here in Switzerland. In the early to mid 2000s they tried to establish it but it never really worked… less kids came trick or treating at our door as the years wore on. Which I find a pity. I only went trick or treating once, when I was 16 or so. I dressed up as Van Helsing (à la Hugh Jackman) including the hat and big coat. My sister was the vampire
The people whose door we knocked on mostly didn’t get what it was all about but it was fun anyway.
The cover is so gorgeous! I have the first omnibus but then couldn’t wait for the next one and bought all the other books ^^ It would look nice on my shelf anyway though
And it’d be awesome to have Reaper in print instead of just the pdf!
abi
having never attented a halloween party, i know not much abt its rules!!! so if a princess dress is allowed, i ll wear it only!!!
btw, the book cover is so so so so good!! congrats!
Tammi
I was a witch. I’m not dressing up this year.
Priya
I’m trying really hard to find a genuine-looking and -sized scythe which doesn’t leave my bro in pieces ;D
AH
Best costume – the year I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking. I loved those books.
Emily
This year I will be Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. She’s my favorite character in that book series and the tv show.
Ayrdrie
Me and my friends do group costumes every year and this year we are being the avangers (even though we are all girls and most of the avengers are men) I am personally being captain america!
Robin K.
I love that cover!!!
I will be a gypsy for halloween this year. I’m making the ENTIRE costume myself. All the bending over for pinning the pattern, cutting, tracing markings is killing my back!
Tyawna
Who here hasn’t seen the movie Castaway??? Well I am going as Wilson this year. That’s right! i am going to be dressing up as a volleyball with a bloody handprint on it! i cannot wait to show it off to all of my friends!
Tasha
I’m dressing up as the Mad Hatter. Female version, of course. :3 Good luck with packing and moving!
Brent
I’m not dressing up this year and don’t really have a favorite costume from the past.
Angie
I would have to say that one of my fave Halloween costumes was when my friends and I cosplayed as the Japanese Vocaloids. It was so much fun creating the costumes together.
Liliana
I dont think I’m dressing up this year…nursing school doesn’t really allow that much time for “fun” (yes, I should be studying right now! lol). My fave costume, though, would be when I was young I dressed up as a doll….I was quite a doll, if you know what I mean
Georgeana
I haven’t dressed up since I was about 14. My favorite costume was when I was a blue crayon.
Lacey T
I’m not going to be dressing up this year, but I remember one of my favorite costumes was Tinkerbell!
Victoria Johns
I’m being a ninja… I am a nerd and I love anime so…. Naruto character Konan….. Look her up… she’s cool
Emy
I’m not sure if it’s because I’m English and, erm, ‘older’, but I don’t really remember dressing up for Halloween. I did go to a (themed) masquerade ball a few years back as a fallen angel, which I rather liked! If I had a free choice, though, I think something like Buffy wore in the “Halloween” episode, although without the curse bit!!
Teresa
I am going to be a pirate. Why? Because pirates are awesome and I get to wear my pretty leather boots!
Victoria Zumbrum
I am not dressing up but I love vampire costumes.
Katy Levine
I am going to be a lepord. My claws light up and everything! Oh, and awesome book cover. Can’t Wait!
Grace Lo
I’m seriously not sure what I’d be for Halloween yet . . . (I put the pro in procrastination.) I’d probably end up dressing up in something very un-costumey. Like a British boarding school student. And walk around all day speaking in my atrocious British accent.
If all else fails, I’ll be a clone of myself. And evil one. And go around laughing the villain laugh under my head and rubbing my hands together as if dreaming up an evil scheme.
Susan S.
I am not dressing up this year, but my favorite old costume was that of a cat.
Nic
My birthday is 4 days after Halloween (*hint hint* hahaha) so any opportunity to have a party will result in fancy dress!
Any opportunity to do fancy dress is ok by me!
I’m going to a housewarming this weekend and it’s Halloween-themed (being in Australia, Halloween isn’t celebrated really except for fancy dress parties) and I’ve decided to go as Medusa!!
OMG I can’t wait!
The dress is so lovely, I may wear on it’s own, to my birthday party the weekend after!
smiling_ina
I’m still sooo in love with this cover!!! I cannot wait to get a copy and have Reaper in print!!! It’s my favorite novella and I’ve been hoping for it in print ever since Volume 1 got released.
I grew up in Germany and we didn’t have Halloween when I was a kid. It’s slowly coming now, I think. My mom said she had three kids coming to her door last year.
Now I’m living in Canada and thanks to my little man I get to experience trick-or-treating with/through him. I haven’t dressed up yet, but my little man went as Curious George last year and he looked absolutely adorable.
Mary H
I’m not dressing up this year but I’d say my favorite past costume would be when I was a genie.
Lianne
The cover is beautiful. I don’t really dress up for Halloween here, but a favourite costume that I saw last year was a cute little pumpkin costume
ashley
I really wanted to dress up as a zombie this year for Halloween. I had it all planned out. My sister was going to do my makeup and I would look suitably zombie-like. But, alas I found out I have to work on Halloween so I won’t be dressing up at all. My costume will be my work uniform. O the joy of growing up.
Gabi
LOVE the cover. Just lovely.
I’m trying to find all the necessary stuff (delimbed binder covers, etc) to become a binder-ed woman, complete with index tabs highlighting my cooking and child-bearing qualities
if all else fails, I shall be an annoyed (not slutty/sexy) librarian asking everyone to shush (which is basically my life, minus me actually *being* a librarian).
Alicia B.
I am not sure if I am dressing up this year, I would like to go to the annual John Marshall Bar Association party so I am hoping to pick up a costume – otherwise I will be wearing a Venetian mask that I still have laying around from an old sorority formal to answer the door for trick or treaters (on that note, I think I need to buy some candy . . . ).
My favorite costume in the past – I loved getting to be Batgirl for a while, but I really loved how I looked in a Princess Jasmine costume, unfortunately the long pants didn’t really work out all that well in South Florida – plus I still feel guilty wearing that costume because my dad firmly vetoed it a long time ago (apparently he didn’t realize that a Princess Jasmine costume would involve a very small top in addition to the very large bottoms), and I am just not that great at disobeying – although that may be different if I were to already be dead and have nothing to lose ala Kaylee
.
Zakiya
I’m going to be the Russian princess Anastasia because I have a princess -ey dress from Russia to wear! I love all of the other future/past costumes!
thank you so much for holding this comp Rachel!
Jesse
I’m going to be a vampire Angelina Jolie! My sister bought me a dress that looks similar to the one she wore with the split up the side that garnered so much publicity, so I figure, why not?
thank you for the opportunity to win such awesome books!
Irene
Ooh, pretty!
I once dressed up as a monster princess. That was a fun day.
Jen @ Midnight Book Thief
I went for the classic fairy princess.
Those omnibuses are really pretty! I want one soo badly! *drools*
Naomi H
We don’t actually celebrate Halloween in AUS, but I’d love to dress up and celebrate with you all!!
If I had to pick a costume now, I’d love to be a badass girl Vampire. So much fun!!!!
Bre M
I won’t be dressing up this year… I will prob be at work
But I loved dressing up in my boyfriends motocross gear.
He raced when he was about 12 and it fit me perfect!
From the helmet all the way down to the boots!
So Cute! Thanks for the giveaway!!
Lucille
I’m going to be a black cat so I can jinx everyone :3 I actually wanted to be an angel this year, but my mom said that angels aren’t scary, so I ended up with a cat costume.
Katy
The cover is beautiful !!! And thanks for the giveaway ! This year I’m going to dress as a fae, because it’s one of my discovery of the year, and my favorite when I was young was the princess costume =D
Angela L.
This year I’m going to be witch! By the way, thanks for this awesome giveaway!
Ashley
Love the cover, it is stunning! This year I am dressing up as a witch… I know it is not original, but for the Halloween festival I am attending there will be lots of kids. So, I wanted to make sure it wasn’t super scary and kid friendly.
Ginger
Love the cover! I actually have two favorite costumes, one was last year when I was a girl from the 50′s, I wore a super cute poodle skirt that my mom help me make. The second one was the year before that when I went as a hippie, it was so much fun!
Misty M
This cover is beautiful. Love how it matches the first volume.
I am not dressing up this year, but I am taking my nieces trick or treating. They are dressing up as members from The Fresh Beat Band. They’re from the Disney Channel. Its a great show for kids, teaches valuable lessons and sings. My nieces just got to see the band in concert. They loved it. So they will be little rock stars on Halloween.
Good luck on your move! and Thanks for the giveaway!
Amanda G
I’m not dressing up this year unfortunately since I have work. My favorite costume I’ve had would probably have to be the year I went as Red Riding Hood (Red after she kicked the wolf’s ass). I had these once-beautiful black leather knee high boots that got tore up prior to Halloween, so I got to wear them one last time before I tossed them. It was a bittersweet night. Then it was just a sweet night because I ate a lot of candy.
Maybe next year I’ll dress up as a reaper…or a hellion.
Alyssa
Oooh. Those are some pretty covers!
I’m gonna dress up this year, sort of…. I found this hat a couple of weeks ago, and it has a penguin face on it. (I LOVE penguins!!) So, I’m gonna wear it to work on Halloween. I have to wear black and white to work anyways, so it will be perfect.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!! (and, good luck with the move!)
Caleigh caleigh
Sadly my mom broke me of the habit of dressing up
so, my favourite costume I wore in the past would probably be when I was Nancy Drew. I love her mysteries and when the movie came out I knew I had to be her.
Good Luck on the move! and congratulations for the awesome book cover. It looks fabulous.
Crystal M.
I am torn between dressing as a fairy or little red riding hood since I have always dressed as a witch in the past.
Sam Dailey
This year for Halloween I am going to be a biker chick, complete with a leather vest and biker boots. For some reason most people still find it odd that a female could be a motorcycle rider and that bothers me. Even better, if the weather is nice I’ll complete my costume by actually riding my motorcycle.
Jacqui Myers
Halloween is a big holiday for me and my family. I will be going as Disney’s Maleficent. Trying to get hubby to dress up as Prince Phillip and my eldest daughter as Princess Aurora.
Jassie
I don’t usually dress up for Halloween but I love trick-or-treat!
Yummy candies!
*insert evil laugh here*
I like Dark Fairies but I’ve been a Witch
Archina
me and my friend are going as angels. But wait there’s a twist. I’m the angel of death (black wings, dress, booots etc) and she’s a GOOD angel (you know fluffy white wings ,golden halo etc.)
Julie S.
I’m not dressing up this year but last year I was a salon girl and it was a very fun costume.
marie
I am not dressing up this year. my favorite costume of the past is when I dressed up backwards. I’ll explain: I put on my coat so that it zipped up in the back and put a mask to the back of my head. When people answered their door, I would have my back to them and they were looking at the mask on my head. They mostly didn’t notice I wasn’t facing them, not even with the hair sticking out of the hole for the eyes in my mask.
Joy
Not dressing up this year but my husband and I had a good collaboration. I dressed up as a mermaid and he dressed up as a fisherman that caught me!
Vicki
I am not dressing up this year, but my favorite costume was being a vampire.
Alina P
We don’t have Halloween in my country so I’ll only watch some scary movies and eat candy… I would have loved to dress up as a woman from the Tudor era…
Raonaid Luckwell
Not dressing up just not in the spirit. However my favorite ones in the past was dressing up as Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “Simi” and the time I dressed up as a dark elf. Though people thought I was a witch… Witch with black skin, pointed ears, and white hair.
Anonymous Reader
My favorite costume from the past was the medieval dress my mother made for me when I was 12 years old.
Rh3а
No costume for my son this year. He’s scaring people enough as he is.
And I’m a witch 24/7, so maybe I’ll dress up as a housewife, or something as horrendous.
Chri
THAT COVER *O*
Ritesh Kala
I’m in India, so we don’t celebrate Halloween. So I’ve never really dressed up. But if I had too, I’d dress up as batman. Fell in love after seeing the first movie.
Alicia B.
Do you happen to know if the whole series is going to be collected into these bigger books, or if it will be only the first four and the rest will still be sold as individual paperbacks?
KathleensB
the cover is so gorgeous! I’m going to a halloween party that is masquerade as well. I’m going as a winter fae. I’m wearing a pale blue floaty dress and i’m going to put on silver body glitter so i shimmer and im going to put a pale blonde wig on and wear pale blue contacts. I’m putting the last touches of my mask together ro make it look like icicles and snowflakes and i was going to wear fairy wings but im having a little trouble with that part. My hubby joked that i was Jackie Frost! Gotta love Halloween!
Ileana A.
OMG! I can’t believe I miss this! T__________T
Michelle Oliver
Have u not announced winners yet?
Debbie W.
This looks like a great book!! I’m wondering what age it is geared towards? Thanks!
