I woke up this morning to something beautiful!
Thanks to Nina Nguyen for showing me the Vietnamese edition of My Soul To Take! I think it may be my favorite so far. I love the colors and the smoke, and the series title treatment! I can’t wait to hold one of these!
If Google Translate is correct, the title Nữ thần báo tử translates to “Goddess of Death,” and according to Hoa Hoc Tro Magazine, they will soon be publishing book 2, My Soul To Save, as well. I’m so thrilled!
(If memory serves, HQTeen sold the the Vietnamese rights to the first few Soul Screamers books a couple of years ago, but I hadn’t heard anything about the actual publication until today! Such a wonderful surprise!)

I love UK cover as it looks like what Kaylee would look like if she was screaming for a soul but then I think that the US one is really pretty as well! I don’t think that the French one really tells you anything about the plot or the characters of the book and that it is quite plain in comparison to the UK and US ones!

Oh, what a tough choice to make, but I’ll have to go with the Vietnamese cover. For one thing, I love the big moon in the background. Then the way they made the dress look is absolutely stunning. Plus, blue is my favorite color, so there you go. *lol* I wouldn’t be able to read it, but it’s so pretty, I’d love to have it just to stare at all day.

Rachel- I went back to my kindle and you have to select to show the covers. It weird everytime I open my kindle and DL a book it just puts it to the chapter. Some of the books do some don’t I know that on the Kindle Edition of MSTS and MSTT it does not have a cover associated with it, just a title page. I can take pictures for you it’s weird. I even called Amazon and they said some publishers don’t send covers with it since it in in Black and White. I talked to a Michele So i have NO idea..

The Vietnamese cover is definitely my new favorite, though I love my UK edition at home. The French version’s title is kind of odd, though…as it translates to “of/with all my soul” which makes sense (translation =/= literal), but it’s funny that it’s the title of the last SS novel…

I own the vol.1 omnibus edition and used to like that cover best, but now I have to go with the Vietnamese one! It’s incredible. I love how Kaylee’s dress unfurls into tendrils of smoke or fog and how she sits perched above the abyss. It foreshadows that she’s on the threshold of learning about what she really is.

In all honesty, I find that the UK cover portrays banshees the most accurately, but I like the US and Vietnamese covers better. I love the lighting in the US cover, as well as the swirling words, but the Vietnamese has this amazing calm feel to it. (I probably don’t make any sense.) So overall, it’s a tossup between US ant Vietnam.

While I love the Vietnamese one for it’s intensity and power, I have to go with the US version. Because: The Vietnamese one is all about power and dominion. And if the idea is to portray Kaylee – then yes she has loads of power which she is just discovering but doesn’t revel in it. Barely even realizes she has it. the only times she stands up and harnesses it – becomes that goddess is when it is for someone else’s sake. to help them. other than that she is just like every other girl trying to find a way through a very complicated world, work, family, boyfriend, school etc. She’s a kind loving person which is what is expressed in the US version. With the power being expressed in the way that the girl is standing and the head is tilted and yet there is grace there as well. Something more to her than the fact that she is this otherworldly creature who has power over the dead. Another point is that with the Vietnamese one all that you see is the bottom of the dress which is the only thing that makes it amazing. the rest fades to the back and isn’t very impressive at all. the title is barely seen. the “soul screamers” tries to take over everything and the top half of the girl is so rigid and almost not there. as with the US one – all the components are there and yet they all play into each other’s advantages and blend together for this beautiful harmonious message.
hope that wasn’t too much of a ramble. i actually really like studying cover books. as they the cover tells all – what message are you trying to make. and which cover truly tells you what is inside. while you shouldn’t “judge a book by its cover” – the fact is that if the inside wants to be seen right the cover needs to be right too. regardless of intent the cover is what is seen first and what will determine whether the person will take the chance to see what’s inside.

It would have to be a toss up between this Vietnamese cover and With All My Soul. I just love the placement and how the dress does that thing… But the gold in WAMS? Gorgeous. It’s the perfect way to go out.
However, I think the UK one’s are more interesting and different in comparison to the AUS/US editions that we get. While they’ve all got the signature smoky background, they’re all different and I think the white is more eye-catching in comparison to the black backgrounds of the US.

My favourite is the French one… okay, so chauvisnistic. I was looking at the french cover for a bit wondering about the conection it might have to the stories and it sudennly hit me…the rainbow near the eye might have to do with the fact that kaylee’s eyes change and swirl.
